Which one is for you?
These apps all touch "family photos", but they are built for different habits. Here is what each one is good at, so you can pick the right one, even if it is not ours.
1 Second Everyday
One second of video per day, compiled into a movie of your month or year. Best if you like moving pictures and the ritual of the montage. DailyAlbum is the still-photo equivalent: one photo per day, shown framed rather than compiled, with a note under each.
dayframe
One photo a day on a monthly grid, with stickers, fonts, and layouts for sharing the month on social media. Best if decorating and posting the month is the fun part. DailyAlbum keeps the photo plain, puts it in a wooden frame, and sends it to your family's devices instead of a feed.
FamilyAlbum (みてね)
Unlimited photo and video uploads for the whole family, with comments, printing, and monthly recap videos. Best if your family wants everything, and someone enjoys keeping the album full. DailyAlbum is the opposite bet: one photo a day, no feed, no comments, so grandparents see today's picture large and nothing else.
Google Photos shared albums and partner sharing
Everything in your library, shared automatically, on any platform. Best if the family is on Android and wants the whole archive. DailyAlbum is iPhone and iPad only, stores nothing on our servers, and shows a single chosen photo at a time.
Hardware frames (Aura, Nixplay)
A dedicated screen that family members can send photos to. Best if nobody in the household has a spare iPhone or iPad. DailyAlbum uses the devices you already own, including an old iPhone in StandBy and a TV with AirPlay, and changes the picture once a day.
In one line
If you want a quiet, framed photo a day, on your phone and in your parents' home, that is DailyAlbum. If you want video, decoration, or an unlimited family archive, one of the others will serve you better.
Questions
Can I use DailyAlbum together with one of these?
Yes. It only reads your photo library and records your daily choice. Nothing changes in your other apps.
Does DailyAlbum upload my photos?
Not to us. Family sharing moves the chosen photos through your own iCloud shared area to your family's devices.
